Relevant to Divine Misconceptions: “Professor Fired for Getting a Divorce”. This happened at a Christian college, where faculty and students are expected to conduct themselves as good Christians. In a reversal of my usual methodology, I would like to note that the college is arguably justified in firing the professor in question, as said professor violated the teachings of Jesus. Jesus set the standards of Christian behavior, and he is depicted in the Gospels as dead-set against divorce (Matthew 5:31-32; Matthew 19:3-9; Mark 10:2-12). More difficult is the idea that divorce is permissible to Christians, which goes flat-out against the Gospels; this is a topic which requires research.
